A great family mission
is short, simple, and meaningful
to everyone. Even young
students can remember,
“We take care of each other”
or “We are builders.”

Try writing a short
family mission statement
together and hang it somewhere
visible. One simple sentence
or a few descriptive words can
help guide big decisions.

Mission statements
aren’t just for schools or

for families too! Ask your

Mrs. Carroll’s Firebirds were hard at work collaborating and learning from one another today! ❤️💙
Students worked together to share ideas, problem-solve, and support each other’s thinking. It was amazing to see the teamwork, communication, and leadership happening throughout the room. When Firebirds collaborate, great things happen!

Today was an unforgettable morning for one of our very own Firebirds! Shelbie West got to ride to school in a **Wentzville Firetruck** after raising money for the **American Heart Association**—what an incredible accomplishment!
Not only did Shelbie earn a super cool ride, but she also made a meaningful impact by helping support heart health and lifesaving research. We are so proud of her leadership, generosity, and commitment to making a difference!
A **huge thank you to Mrs. Bauer** for organizing this once-in-a-lifetime experience for our students—we appreciate all the heart and effort that went into making this so special! ❤️

Our 1st-grade Firebirds had a hands-on learning experience exploring the layers of the Earth using colorful playdough models! Students carefully built each layer — the crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core — while discussing what makes each part of our planet unique.

Mrs. Eusterbrock’s 4th graders were hard at work using their morphology keys to break apart words and determine their meanings. Students engaged in thoughtful discussions with their peers as they explored words to deepen their understanding of vocabulary.
Our 3rd-grade Firebirds in Mrs. Hughes’ class put their scientist hats on as they experimented with measuring the temperature of water vapor. Students observed how heat changes water and practiced using scientific tools to record their findings.
🎉 Congratulations to Our Very Own Mr. Hoffmann! 🎶
We are proud to celebrate Mr. Hoffmann, our FHE Music Teacher, for being awarded the Dr. Bernard J. Dubray STEM Award Grant!

Engagement was soaring in Mrs. Leach’s 4th-grade math class! Students were using vertical workspaces to solve problems, show their thinking, and make their strategies visible. The room was filled with meaningful student talk as Firebirds explained their reasoning, used evidence to justify their answers, and built on one another’s ideas. When students are up, moving, discussing, and defending their thinking, deep learning happens!
A big thank you to Mrs. Reed, 5th Grade Teacher, and Instructional Coach Dr. Gallia for leading our staff in a professional development session focused on retrieval practices in our ELA classrooms. Their leadership and expertise helped guide meaningful conversations around strategies that support student learning and retention. Opportunities like this highlight the power of collaboration and continued professional learning as we work together to strengthen instruction for our Firebirds.
At FHE, we don’t just teach academics — we grow leaders. 🔥
Our students demonstrate teamwork, integrity, and perseverance throughout the day. Whether in the classroom, cafeteria, or on the playground, Firebirds are leading by example!
